For the position of PRESIDENT- Amy Korzack (will be acclaimed to this role)

As your current President, I am honoured to serve the local for another 2 year term.
I think I can honestly say that this past year has been the most challenging, gruelling but also, the most rewarding of the 10 years I have served as Local President. I know each one of you has personally sacrificed a number of things in defence of public education, our profession and position in the kindergarten program and you have each done it with determination, integrity and what I hope is a new-found or renewed passion for your work and your union. We have come together and survived another government making cuts, and I know, we will continue to stand together.
We have added the supply and LTO DECEs to our local family and I know that this will make us even stronger! We can now reach out and fully support our DECEs in precarious work situations and create a union local that at its core is unity, strength and engagement as we move forward into local bargaining.
The root of what the local does, from committee work to Board meetings, is YOU, the member. I am a confident and competent RECE and I am a passionate advocate for issues that affect each one of you. I have experience in the Kindergarten classroom, both positive and negative experiences, and my ability to hear and truly listen is a skill that I am grateful to have to best serve our local members.
I have been able to assist members with troubled partnerships, help with planning and programming, grievances and arbitrations, and I hope that my support has given strength to those of you that I have had the privilege of working directly with.
When it comes to dealings with our Board, make no mistake that I am not afraid to advocate on your behalf. I am also not afraid to come to a compromise and work collaboratively with HR staff in the best interests of the members. Knowing when to be more assertive and when to take a moderated approach is what I have been effectively doing for the past 10 years. I am far from done my work in service of and on behalf of Halton DECE members, both locally and provincially.
Whether I am at the bargaining table, Employee Relations meetings, Board meetings, Union meetings or ETFO Provincial events, my thoughts and voice are always tuned to YOU, the member, the employee, the DECE, the RECE. My voice speaks for what we as RECE’s need in a school setting, in policy, in practice and in our Union and beyond.
I will continue to speak with an authentic, professional and strong voice on each of your behalf. This is a privilege and an honour that I take very seriously and with passion, knowledge and sincerity. Thank you for trusting me with that.

For the position of VICE-PRESIDENT- Mansi Sood-Nauth (will be acclaimed to this role)

My name is Mansi Sood-Nauth. I have been on the Halton DECE Executive for the past six years as an Executive Member, and currently as your Vice President. I would appreciate the opportunity for being considered to maintain this position of Local Vice president in the coming year. I am confident that my experience as an Executive Member and Vice President, along with my Union School training, have provided me with insight and the tools necessary to represent all Halton DECEs.
I have been actively involved in various committees of our local (i.e.Professional Development Committee, Employee Relations Committee, Collective Bargaining Committee, and Health and Safety committee) in order to promote equality and safety of all local DECEs, and to be able to help share information with my colleagues that is current and accurate.
I am a strong believer that member engagement is important, as “happy members lead to a happy union”. In the last 2 years I have shown my passion for this local and its members by organizing many social events, and by actively participating in planning sessions with the Professional Development Committee. I have collaborated with peers to host Professional Development Workshops that are of interest to our local and received great feedback (ie. S.T.E.M/S.T.E.A.M. & Math is fun).
Keeping members updated and informed through means of social media is very important to me. Posting meaningful content on our local’s Facebook Page has enabled me to effectively update Halton DECEs with current affairs in a very efficient manner, and has allowed for open dialogue which I felt comfortable moderating. If re-elected as your Vice President, I will continue to use this means of communication to reach and engage as many members as possible. I look forward to continuing this learning journey with you.
It is my hope that my efforts to represent and engage local members in the last six years has demonstrated my commitment to helping the Halton DECE community. I would love the opportunity to continue this work as your Vice President of Halton DECEs for this upcoming 2 year term.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours in Solidarity,
Mansi Sood-Nauth

For the position of TREASURER, the candidates are:
For the position of SECRETARY- Carol Bee (will be acclaimed to this role)

To the Halton DECE members,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Carol Bee and I am currently work at Viola Desmond Public School in Milton. Throughout my 10 years with the Board I have also worked at Park Public School and PL Roberston.
I have been working as the local secretary for the past 10 years. This has been an incredible experience that I have had with my fellow executive members. As the local secretary it is my job to maintain a proper form of communication through note taking to ensure that all information is recorded. This is not always a simple task as there are many parties and valuable ideas to collect. I value the responsibility that I have taken on, and to this day I am still learning what it means to be an effective note taker. As the secretary I partake in many meetings with the local executive. I also attend collective bargaining, employee relations meetings with the Board, spring annual meetings and fall business meetings, resolutions meetings, and grievance meetings, all of which notes are taken at.
As your local secretary I want to ensure you all that I have a commitment to do the best job possible. I will continue to provide this service for as long as I can. I am truly dedicated to this position and believe that I have many more years to fulfill as local secretary.
Thank you all for your continued support as I continue to represent you as your local secretary.

For the positions of EXECUTIVE MEMBER, the candidates are: (drop down from Treasurer positions may run)
Jerome Adamo

My name is Jerome Adamo. With thanks to my nominators, I seek your vote for Executive Member. You’re aware I wasted little time getting involved 5 years ago.
As chair of your political action committee; health and safety committee member, labour council DECE member, ETFO Union School graduate and political action committee alternate member, I’m forever committed to DECE issues and our local’s advancement.
With an accomplished reputation, I’ve provided voice as an Annual meeting alternate and a Provincial DECE focus group participant. I’m humbled with ETFO historical stature as Sam Hammond states “the first ETFO DECE Federal Election Candidate”.
My 30 years of external organizational activism and executive experience is vast holding positions of President, Vice President and member respectively. Giving ETFO back everything I’ve benefited is a personal mission.
A DECE friend gave permission to share a few excerpts from a recent email ... (Name Withheld)
“You bring peace of mind Mr. J with passionate leadership and I love your fearlessness for sharing new ideas. I hope your success dispels the optics of exclusivity. It’s been without change for a long time. I admire your mindset to admit fault surpassing disagreement when necessary, and your “bleed union, big picture attitude. I still can’t believe you stop at so many rallies and keep our flag in your car”. Good Luck J”.
My motivation grows from experiences during my Federal campaign. I realized one downside of winning would be missing opportunity for my desires to give back. Perhaps here’s my chance.

Christine Mooers

My name is Christine Mooers and I am running for the role of executive member. My journey with Halton District School Board began in September 2010 and with ETFO shortly after that. I have been an Early Childhood Educator in Halton since 1991. In my role as an RECE, I have committed to a journey of lifelong learning. Part of this journey is through the local. As an active member I have participated in a wide range of opportunities. From local and provincial annual meetings, becoming an activist during recent political protests and always advocating for myself and others. I am a working member of several committees locally. Most notably, this past year I teamed up with the teacher local. Together we prepared training for Health and Safety members from a local perspective.
This year I would like to be considered for the position of executive member.
A vote for me is a vote for, dedication, experience, compassion and energy.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Rachel Nesbitt

My name is Rachel Nesbitt and I am running for an executive member position on our local executive. I have been with the board for 7 years and am currently at Brookville Public School. I have just finished my first term as an executive member. I have been the chair of our local’s Status of Women Committee for the last four years. We have organized many events for our members who identify as women over the past several years.
I feel like I am a strong asset to the executive team. I am organized, passionate, and committed to seeking quality representation of all ECE’s within HDSB. I have a strong focus on equity, equality, social justice, and anti-racism. I just recently participated in this year’s ETFO Annual General Meeting. I am driven by the concerns of our members, the issues we face every day, and I am thinking of all of that while I am there, having the ability to vote on resolutions and new motions.
I truly enjoy being an advocate for our profession and this role will support my drive towards Early Childhood parity and relationships. I am truly dedicated and devoted to this local and our union. As a strong, passionate and intelligent woman, I can and will advocate for all of us. And if you vote for me, I will make sure that I advocate for you as well.
Please vote for me as an executive member.
